Clinical Significance:
Assists in determining CLL prognosis utilizing CD38 and ZAP-70 markers. CD38 can be found in more than half of individuals with CLL1. The expression of ZAP-70 has associations with a more aggreessive form of CLL2

Specimen Requirements:
Peripheral Blood: Lavender Top: EDTA (2 ml)
Green Top: Sodium Heparin (2 ml)
Bone Marrow: Lavender Top: EDTA (2 ml)
Green Top: Sodium Heparin (2 ml)
Fresh Tissue: Tissue Media (0.5 cm3)
Fine Needle Aspirate: Tissue Media (one pass)
CSF: Sterile Container (5 ml)
Body Fluid other:Sterile Container (20 ml)
Storage and Transport:
Specimens should be received at CorePath within 72 hours from collection to assure sample integrity and acceptable cell viability. Ship same day as drawn whenever possible. Peripheral blood and bone marrow should be shipped at room temperature. In hot weather, use cold pack for transport, making sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen. Body fluids and tissue should be shipped at 4O C.
