The Simplified Solid Tumor Algorithm has been prepared by Aamir Ehsan, MD. Dr. Ehsan is the Medical Director at CorePath and American Board Certified in AP/CP, hematopathology, and molecular genetics. This esoteric testing algorithm has been designed for the ease of ordering by pathologists and/or oncologists. The focus is to conserve the diagnostic tissue, order tests in a timely manner, and get relevant results faster. A combination of tests may be ordered as medically necessary. This guide is meant to be used in conjunction with our Oncology (Solid Tumor) Requisition. Clinical information, pathology reports and laboratory tests are collectively useful for the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and/or prevention of cancers. NCCN, ASCO and WHO guidelines are updated frequently as new therapeutic targets and actional mutations are identified. As such, information shown may be outdated by new findings.
