About the Role
CorePath, a nationally recognized pathologist-owned laboratory, is seeking a Board-Certified AP/CP Pathologist to join our growing hospital-based practice in Dothan, AL. This position offers the autonomy of an independent hospital role with the strong backing of a collaborative, experienced pathology team. Position Summary
The Pathologists’ Assistant will serve as the primary onsite PA within a single-hospital practice model, working directly with the onsite pathologist while receiving support from CorePath’s team. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, professionalism, and a commitment to regulatory compliance and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform gross examination of a wide range of surgical pathology specimens
- Manage specimen triage, dissection, and submission in accordance with best practices
- Assist with frozen sections in partnership with the attending pathologist
- Ensure accurate documentation in compliance with laboratory protocols
- Maintain consistent quality and efficiency in all grossing operations
- Collaborate with histology, laboratory personnel, and clinical teams
- Support laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance, including CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and HIPAA
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Graduate of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program
- ASCP-certified (PA ASCP) or certification-eligible
- Experience in a hospital-based anatomic pathology setting
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Effective verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Eligible for or able to quickly obtain a Alabama medical license
- Commitment to ethical practice, compliance, and professional standards
