Surgical pathology is the process of studying patient tissues under the microscope to assist in the diagnosis or status of disease. Our staff can prepare sections of tissue on glass slides to perform morphologic interpretation overnight. Morphology reports will be correlated with other ancillary studies such as immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cytogenetics and FISH to identify different components of the patient tissue. While a multitude of cancers can be identified using anatomic pathology, a variety of other disease processes can be identified as well such as infection, autoimmune disorders, disease of the gastrointestinal or genitourinary tract and many more.
